Herbert

One of the “street names” used by the prominent Red Army intelligence officer, Vladimir Efimovich Gorev, during his posting in the United States as an “illegal” resident from 1930 to 1933. “Herbert” was the first Soviet handler of the self-admitted Soviet espionage agent, Whittaker Chambers, and was his actual recruiter.
