Mole

A KGB foreign intelligence code name appearing in a number of Soviet World War II-period intelligence cables which were partially decrypted in the course of the American Venona operation and released in 1995-1996. At the time of the release, the cryptonym “Mole” was not identified by Venona translators; however, it was later identified as belonging to Charles Kramer, an American economist who worked for several U.S. Senate Committees in the late 1930s, during World War II and immediately afterwards.
