Omega

A Soviet operational name for a group of sources of Soviet military intelligence (GRU) in Washington, D.C. from 1941 to 1945. The group was run by that service’s resident, Lev Alexandrovich Sergeev (“Moris“), who used an agent-group leader, “Doctor” for the contact with his sources. The “Omega” group has recently been named among the best groups that Soviet military strategic intelligence had during the World War II period. This estimate finds a confirmation in the highest Soviet awards that were reportedly bestowed upon its sources and operatives.
